Crazy Heart is the Film that Will Be Remember as Showing the World What We already Know: Jeff Bridges is awesome.

Well I just finished watching the film Crazy Heart.  I heard good things about this movie and thought it might be good, but I got to say I thought was movie was very good.  Jeff Bridges definitely deserved his Oscar, it's nice seeing him get the recognition he deserves.  The film is full of great actors.  Colin Farrell gave a surprisingly good performance.  I like Colin but he surprised me with this film.  The story was very good.  But the essence of the film is in Jeff Bridges and the incredible music.  I don't even like country music, but as a scene in the beginning of the film showed Bad Blake is the last of a dieing breed of real country musicians not the crapping watered down forced country music 90% of the artists play.  This film had some incredible music.  A highly recommend you watch this film if you haven't yet seen it.  And if you've already seem it, ah hell, then watch it again.  I gave this film a 5 out of 5 stars.

What I did this summer...

Wow I haven't written in here since July 22.  Every time I say I'm going start writing in here I never do, haha.  Well I start school in the morning.  Its my senior year of college, wow I feel old, haha.  I haven't really done anything all summer.  I went to Warped Tour in July.  I was supposed to go see Blink-182, Weezer, taking Back Sunday and Chester French this past Saturday in Hartford, CT.  But didn't go.  I really wanted to got to show since late May.  Two weeks ago I just said fuck it (literally I was alone in my room and I actually said out loud, "Oh fuck it") and bid on and won two tickets to go to the show on eBay.  But I had no one to go with me and thus I started to freak out.  One of my old friends said he might, and then he didn't give me an answer.  I called him last Wednesday because I was starting to worry, three days before the show, and he said his grandmother was in the hospital and he couldn't go.  I freaked out.  I couldn't think of anyone else to go with me and if I wanted to see them on eBay I only had less than three days to sell and ship them.  Then at like 7:30 pm I said screw it and put them on eBay.  I was relived after 20 minutes one person messaged me saying they might want them and then another messaged me and said if I added a Buy-It-Now they would pay $75, including shipping.  I added a Buy-It-Now and sold them.  But I still really wish I could have gone.  I have been doing whatever I can think of to make money.  I sold I shit load of stuff on eBay this summer.  I listed 200 items and made more than $748.28.  That's a lot.  I started writing articles on the articles on eHow.com.  the site is full of How-To articles.  You write articles on the sites and they pay you for the views your article gets.  I wrote 14 articles on the site.  I written anymore though because the site pissed me off.  They were having problems and I sent them three messages over three weeks and the over responded to the second two, which annoyed me.  Then I started thinking about how I bet this site probably generates tens of thousands of dollars in ad revue every month.  They can more than afford to hire a few more people to work at the site and then it won't have issues.  And when they did answer my messages their answers were really crappy.  Since I started writing these articles, my 14 articles have a combined 1123 views and according to eHow I have made zero dollars off of my articles.  They are trying to tell me 1123 views equals zero dollars.  How?  I bet they made money off of ad revue of my 1123 views.  (You can read my eHow articles by clicking here).  I also had a yard sale in June to make money, or maybe it was May.  I sold stuff at the Flea market twice this summer.  I have been getting stuff and bringing to this thift store in Leominster called Cutiques, I bring stuff then and when my stuff sells they give me a check.  My mom also discovered this place in Holden where everything is free.  She got me a whole bunch of cross stitch patterns there and I sold them for between $2.5 and $20 each.
When upgraded to Digital Cable in mid-July and ever since I have been watching a lot of movies.  I literally have watched about 50 movies since May.  That a lot for me.  And most of them were really good.  (You can read reviews of all the movies on the Flixter application on Facebook).  I also became addicted to the show Weeds.  I bough the first two seasons at a yard sale for $2 each and I LOVED the show.  I watched the first two seasons in like three days.  I then had to go buy season three because the cliffhanger at the end of season drove me crazy.  Then I had to go buy season four.  With each season I liked the show more.  When I finished watching season four I started re-watching the DVDs.  Then when I finished watching season four I freaked because season five is on TV now and wouldn't go on sale until June of next year, I checked Amazon.  I really wish we got Showtime so I could watch the new season, but Showtime is an extra $10 a month and if I wait I can buy all of season five for like $20 next year.  Last week I was at my great-aunt's house and she gets Showtime and has On Demand so I was able to watch the first one and a half episodes of season five.  I also four books since the beginning of May.  That is a lot of books for me.  I usually read like maybe 2 books a year. You can see a list of all the movies I watched and books I read by clicking here.

My only plans all summer is to sell stuff on eBay.....

Alls I have to do now is to sell stuff on eBay.  My mom gave me a crap load of stuff today that I have to start putting on eBay, like probably over 40 things.  So I'll be busy with that for a while.  My only plans for the rest of the summer is putting stuff on eBay and my cousins baby shower this Saturday.  That could be interesting, but probably boring.  My new friend Laura was supposed to have a pool party or something this Thursday but apparently her mom got mad at her and now she can't have it.  That sucks!  That sounded like it could be fun.  Now I got nothing.  So I'm going to spend the rest of the summer putting stuff on eBay.  This really sucks.  I REALLY wanted to go to the Blink-182, Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French show in Hartford in August but I couldn't find anyone to go with me and I really didn't have the money to buy anything but a lawn ticket.  Pretty much alls that's left for tickets to that show is lawn tickets.  I also really want to go to The Get Up Kids show at the Palladium in Worcester in October, but I can't find anyone to go with me.  I'm no TGUK superfan, I think it'd be really cool to see them.  (TGUK means The Get Up Kids for anyone who couldn't pick up on that).  Well whatever I guess I'll just stay home, sell stuff on eBay and watch TV.

Warped was fun and Johnny was interesting

Wow last post was one month ago.  In my last couple posts I said I would start posting more and I haven't in a month haha.  Well the past month has been ok.  I went to Warped tour last Sunday 7/12 in Hartford, CT.  It was really fun even though for about a hour and a half at Warped I felt like crap, I think the sun was getting to me.  I say some kick-ass bands at Warped.  In the couple days before Warped I was thinking about it and I was a little scared on whether or not I would actually have fun, there were only a couple of bands I really wanted to see and I was going with people whom I didn't really know that well including one girl I'd never even met.  But I actually had a lot of fun.  The people I went with were fun and the girl I'd never even met was actually pretty cool.  We had a whole crap load of fun and after Warped we went to the Denny's-All-Nighter-After-Party, which pretty much was nothing like I expected.  But we had fun at Denny's even though it took us literally and hour and half to get our food.  We met these really cool two girls at the table next to us and we were talking to them off and on until they left.
Then I really didn't do much last week.
Over the weekend my family went to upstate Vermont to visit and old family friend.  We were going to see my dad's old friend from college, Johnny,  whom we hadn't seen in like ten years.  It was kind of interesting listening to him talk about my dad's college days.  I learned some interesting stuff, some I might not have wanted to know, haha.  He was cool but I he lives literally about 4 miles from the Candaian border in Swanton, VT and there is literally nothing up there.
I have been trying to find a job but no one is hiring I've been selling crap on eBay to try to make money.  Since the end of May I've listed 87 items and made about $258 on eBay and I got a crap load more stuff to put on.  I got my college bill for the fall in the mail over the weekend and I'm gonna need a hell of a lot more than that.
Well that's about it for now.  My cousins baby shower is this Saturday, I might write about that after Saturday.

You should buy a pre-sale ticket to Warped Tour

The pre-sale for tickets to Warped Tour go on sale April 1.  I strongly recommend you buy a presale ticket if you are thinking of going to Warped Tour this year.  These special pre-sale tickets are going going to be well special.  They will be special 15th Anniversary tickets.  They come with a free copy of this year's 2-CD Warped Tour compilation set.  They are cheaper than regular tickets (I am not sure how much the will cost yet, but in past year the pre-sale tickets were about about $27 and the regular tickets are about $35).  They also  will get you into the show earlier than every one else (I do not know how much earlier but trust me an amount eralier if a huge plus with the crowds that are usually trying to get into Warped every year).  You should definetly consider going this year and you should buy a pre-sale ticket.  If you click the banners here you it will bring you to a site where you can be signed up to be notified as soon as the pre-sale tickets are on sale and on April 1 they will automatically redirect to the site where the pre-sale tickets will be sold.  I posted a video below about this year's Warped Tour, watch it!

Reggie and the Full Effect Announced Their Last Tour

Ok, WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Reggie and the Full Effect just announced the tour dates for their last tour. WHAT? THEIR LAST TOUR!?!?!?!? There was an online rumor a few months ago that they had broken up. Then they just put out a new album. Today I see on MySpace that he has announced his last tour. And I look at the screen for a couple minutes, then I said, "Wait, his LAST tour?" Oh, yeah, his last tour. Than I became angry. That will be two of my favorite bands breaking up in the same year, Piebald broke up in April. Their last MA show ever is on Tuesday September 9, 2008 at the Middle East in Cambridge. Which really really sucks because on Mondays and Wednesdays this fall I have class at 7:00 am, so if I go I have to be at school at 7:00 am the next day. I really really want to go though. We'll see. I'll have to take to Jessie and Mom about it. If I go I really hope he plays a lot of his older stuff because I don't really like the new CD that much.

It's HOT and Weezer is Awesome

OH. MY. GOD.  I AM HOT!!!!  I of course mean temperature wise, not attractiveness wise.  Today is so insanely hot.  I'm sitting in my room with both my windows open and my ceiling fan on and it feels like its 102 in here.  The heat is making me really tired.
I finally watched the second disc of the third and final volume of Harvey Birdman.  Its been sitting on my desk for like three weeks.  I also read like thirty pages of I Am America (and so can you) by Stephen Colbert while yard saleing today, that's a lot pages for one day for me (I don't read).
For some reason joined the Weezer Online Street Team: Our Name is Jonas.  I've been really starting to like them though.  Well they have this awesome new video for their song "Pork & Beans".  The video is hilarious, really.  It stars some of the biggest stars of YouTube.  You can see their video by clicking either of the two banners below.

This should be the two best days ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drove through sketchy parts of Brighton and met a kid in a parking lot Monday who sold be two tickets to Piebald's show this Saturday 4/19.  The show is sold out.  I was thinking about going all year, but never bought tickets.  Then a couple weeks the show sold out and I've been freaking out since.  Now I have tickets to both Friday and Saturday, which are Piebald's last two shows ever!!!  I can't wait!!!!

The Stooges, Oprah and Clapton, Oh My

I am confused because of I saw online earlier that the band that will be performing to at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next week to honor Madonna is THE STOOGES!!!!!  WHAT?!?!?!?!  Why????  What do The Stooges have to do with Madonna???  This is one step up from Gogol Bordello performing with her last year at Live Earth.
I watched Oprah today.  I know, I know, it's Oprah, but it was good so don't judge me.  The guest was Bill Cosby.  They were discussing the degeneration of the Black American society.  They were discussing how blacks went from fighting to be able to go to good school with the whites with Brown vs. Board of Education to barely education their kids.  There was a survey done that said apparently about 70% of black children are born to single mothers and 38% of all black males born today will spend time in prison in their life at some time.  A lot of people complain about the black youth when they should blame the parents.  It was a good show.
I got excited today because Eric Clapton is coming to the Tweeter Center in June.  But then I researched the ticket price and found the ticket price is between $57 and $133.  Its not worth it.  There are so many good concerts this summer but they too expensive.

King of California was ok

So I got King of California out of the RedBox.  It was ok, just ok.  The barbeque scene was very disturbing.  The movie was funny at some points.  Michael Douglas gave a really good performance, a strange roll for him.  But he was good.  Overall it was just ok.  Next week I might get the movie The Brave One with Jodie Foster.  I'll tell you next weekend if I do and what I think of it.
Tomorrow I plan to watch all of the ATHF Volume 5 DVD in one sitting.  I can't wait.  It'll be fun.

Global Warming, Stupid Abiola and BREASTS!!!!!

Today instead of having my Urban Studies and Tech Policy the whole class went to a seminar about Global Warming.  It was kind of interesting.  Apparently today is some kind of national day to discuss Global Warming.  Thousands of schools across the country are holding seminars today on Global Warming.  Most of it wasn't that interesting.  Yesterday was the student activates fair at school which I always love because all the clubs and organizations on campus give out free stuff in hopes you'll join their club or organization.  I LOVE free stuff.  Last semester the college radio station alone gave me a couple CDs, some sticks, a beer cozy, a Frisbee and something else (I forget what).  The radio station even at the fair yesterday, but MASSPIRG was.  They were one of the sponsors of the seminar today and the gave me the two wrist cuffs.  The are both the same thing.  I have been wearing the wrist cuff since.  The picture to the right is me wearing the wrist cuff on my left arm.
So of course Abiola told me today she is working tomorrow.  She had told me before she wasn't, but she was wrong.  So now we aren't going to see the new movie Strange Wilderness tomorrow.  I really wanted to see it.  This is like the fifth time I have tried to make plans with her in the past like month and a half, and every single time she canceled at the last minute.  It's really annoying.
The organization Keep a Breast was at warped tour last year and they were selling the below T-shirt really cheap.  They were also handing out free stickers and pins with the same logo as the shirt.  I considered getting a shirt, but didn't.  I wish I at least got a sticker or pin, but I didn't.  I got the new issue of AP (Alternative Press) in the mail today and there is a full page ad for Keep a Breast with a bunch bands at warped tour last year wearing the below shirt and I saw it and wished I'd got it again.

Sweet Poster, a new Piebald show, and my new interesting professor

So, want the below poster.  I also want someone to go with me to see Piebald on 4/19 at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA.  This is night two of their last concert ever.  I already have tickets to night one on 4/18, now I want to go to night two, who wants to go with me.  I've already had two days of school and its going to be an interesting hopefully not to hard semester.  I didn't take the online Calc I (it was canceled), instead I'm taking Principles of Political Science.  My professor for that class spent most of class yesterday explaining in great detail how much he passionately dislikes  Bush and Chaney.  It was interesting and very funny.

School Starts Tomorrow, I moved my site, & Stephen Colbert is the Man

So, since I got a D+ in Calculus 1 I was going to take the online Calc 1 class. But they are no longer offering it according to the school website. I just looked on the site and its no longer there. I assume that means they have canceled the online Calc 1 class. So I looked and looked for a new class I can take. Almost all the classes I could take are either full, require pre-requisites that I haven't taken, or are offered at times that conflict other classes in my schedule. There was only a few classes I could actually take. I am debating if I should take Principles of Political Science or Consumer Economics. The spring semester starts tomorrow. I am pretty much ready, except for choosing the new class.

So I have permanently moved my site. The new url for my site is www.ribzy.freehostia.com. I have redirected all links to my site to the new url. It is identical to the old site. I didn't change the link to my site in the column to the right. If you click it it goes to my new site. The old url is easier to remember, but if you click it goes to my new site with the url www.ribzy.freehostia.com.

Yesterday I finally broke down and programmed my new remote control for my TV. I fought the remote the day after Thanksgiving last year. Yes the day after Thanksgiving as in Black Friday. I shopped off and on last Black Friday from literally 4:20 am to 11 pm. The remote for my TV was really starting to suck. The channel up button didn't work, among others, and the buttons had to be pressed hard to work. My thumb was literally starting to ache from watching so much TV and having to press the remote buttons so hard. Yesterday I finally programmed the new remote and my thumb let out a sigh of relief.

On Friday I tricked my mom into buying Stephen Colbert flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream Americone Dream. It is really good, just like everything else he has touched. I got his book for Christmas and have been reading it. It is really good, one of my favorite books ever. His TV show is awesome, his book is awesome, his ice cream is awesome, he is awesome. I am watching his show now actually!

I just checked Piebald's myspace and they posted my comment. They have to approve all comments and they are really slow at approving them. The approved the comment I put on their profile on 12/22. For anyone who doesn't know Piebald just broke up and their last show is at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA this April. This is the comment I left them: "I'm so excited for the April 18 Middle East show. I got up yesterday and sat at the computer until 10am (when tickets when onsale) and bought my tickets to the show. I can't wait. You guys should totally pull a Police move and reunite in 20 years. I'm sure I'd still love you when I'm in my 40s and would definetly go see you then!!!!! ". I thought the second half of the comment was very clever.

Tim & Eric Road Awesome Tour

So, I just found out Tim & Eric are going on tour.  Their first tour stop is at TT & The Bears in Cambridge on on April 21.  I want to go but its a Monday night, so I probably won't.  But I my first class isn't until 11:30 on Tuesday so I may consider.  Besides I'm going to the Piebald show in Cambridge on 4/18, I want to go to the Piebald show in Cambridge on 4/19, so I may already be going to Cambridge twice in two days, I don't know if I want to go back two days later.  Thats a lot of gas driving back and forth to Cambridge.
